Norske Skog Bruck is Now Producing Strato Testliner and Strato Fluting on PM 3

June 15, 2023 - Norske Skog announced that the newly converted paper machine, PM 3, at Bruck Mill in Styria, Austria, is now producing Strato Testliner and Fluting.

Norske Skog said PM 3 'Emma' produced her first reel of recycled containerboard at the end of May following a conversion that not only transformed the paper machine, but the entire site of Norske Skog Bruck. The project included the installation of a new multifuel boiler, the construction of a new OCC plant, and an expansion of the facility's wastewater treatment plant.

"We are partly in the process of ramping up deliveries, partly we're still testing our paper with dedicated customers throughout Europe. We are delighted to receive quite some positive feedback, particularly on the strengths of our products," Norske Skog said in a news release.

"The next weeks will be about continuing to familiarize ourselves with the new installations and improve our processes. Till now we have predominantly focused on the heavier basis weights, as of 100 gsm. As of next week, we will start working on the lighter basis weights," the company said.

Conversion of PM 3

On April 1, Norske Skog Bruck started production of recycled containerboard on the mill's rebuilt PM3, which was converted from the production of newsprint to testliner and fluting. PM 3 has the capacity to produce 210,000 tonnes per year.

Norske Skog is a world leading producer of publication paper with strong market positions and customer relations in Europe and Australasia. The Norske Skog Group operates four mills in Europe, two of which will produce recycled packaging paper following ongoing conversion projects. In addition, the Group operates one paper mill in Australia.
