Oct. 24, 2024 - The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released the September 2024 Printing-Writing Monthly report. According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments increased 8% in September compared to September 2023.
U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers increased 6% in August compared to the same month last year.
Total printing-writing paper inventory levels in September decreased 2% when compared to August 2024.
In September, U.S. shipments across all three major P-W categories — uncoated free sheet (UFS), coated free sheet (CFS), and mechanical (MECH) papers — showed growth compared to the same period last year.
UFS and CFS shipments both increased by 7%, while MECH shipments saw a notable rise of 18%.
However, year-to-date shipments revealed mixed results: while UFS and CFS remained positive, MECH experienced a slight decline of 1%.
