Kemira Plans to Close Its Manufacturing Site in Vancouver, Canada

Kemira

Oct. 30, 2024 - Kemira today announced plans to consolidate some Pulp & Paper chemical production in North America, resulting in the closure of a manufacturing site in Vancouver, Canada. The Vancouver site produces process and functional chemicals for the Pulp & Paper segment. The planned consolidation is expected to impact approximately five employees.

Kemira said it expects production at the Vancouver site to end during the first half of 2025, and will move it to Kemira's Washougal, Washington site, where Kemira already produces process and functional chemicals.

The intended move is expected to streamline operational efficiency in Kemira's North American operations in response to changing market conditions, the company said.

The consolidation is not related to the planned changes to Kemira's new operating model and organization structure announced during Q3 2024.

Kemira is a global producer of sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries. Customers include industrial and municipal water treatment operators, and pulp and paper industry among others.
