Jan. 6, 2025 - MM Kotkamills has appointed Marko Pekkola, M.Sc. (Eng.) as the new CEO from the beginning of 2025. Pekkola succeeds Päivi Suutari, who has served as the company's CEO since autumn 2021 and moves to the company's Senior Advisor from the beginning of 2025 until the end of March 2025, after which she will leave her active day job.
Pekkola has served as MM Kotkamills' Deputy CEO and CTO for the past year. He has extensive international experience as a business leader.
Pekkola joined MM Kotkamills from Kesla Oyj as CEO. Previously, he was responsible for Neste Oyj's Oil Products business unit and held business management positions at Stora Enso and M-real.
MM Kotkamills, part of the MM Group, operates a pulp and paper mill with two paper machines — BM2 and PM1 — in Kotka, Finland. The mill, which has the capacity to produce 580,000 tonnes per year, specializes in the production of virgin fibre cartonboard (FBB) for food service and other demanding applications, as well as saturating kraft paper (SKP) for high pressure laminates.
