Valmet Technology Users Group 2025

Valmet's Inaugural Technology Users Group Conference Well-received by Mill Participants

March 11, 2025 - Valmet recently concluded its Technology Users Group (VTUG) Conference, held February 17 - 20 at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista in Orlando, Florida.

This was the first event of its kind in North America, bringing together over 60 customers from mills across North America. The newly expanded conference program included comprehensive sessions on Wet End and Finishing processes, in addition to the traditional focus on Shoe Press and Winders technologies in years prior.

Diverse agenda covering industry-relevant topics

With Valmet presenters encompassing over 220 years of combined industry experience, the conference featured an impressive agenda. Attendees were able to explore a broader range of topics, including the latest trends and challenges in wet end and finishing processes. For wet end processes, topics ranged from headbox processes and maintenance to breast roll shaker maintenance, while finishing users could explore topics such as reel processes, threading, calender and coating.

Enhancing learning through interactive experiences

A standout feature of the conference was the virtual reality mill experience, allowing attendees to engage with Valmet's technologies in an immersive setting.

Emphasizing the value of collaboration

The roundtable discussions were particularly well-received, with participants expressing appreciation for the opportunity to network and troubleshoot together.

"Great discussions. AI was amazing. I'm not a big talker and am new to shoe presses. I learn by listening. Thank you," one customer commented about the roundtables and presentation discussions on Artificial Intelligence.

Valmet has a global customer base across various process industries and is a leading global developer and supplier of process technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries.
